In contrast, safety transformers are designed for continuous and permanent operation. Grothe's bell and safety transformers are equipped with a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient), which protects the transformer on the primary side in the event of short circuits or overloads.
If the PTC is triggered due to an overload or short circuit, the transformer is temporarily de-energised for at least 1 minute so that it can then be put back into operation. Our doorbell transformers are specially designed for use with doorbells, doorbells, chimes and door openers in residential areas where they are active for short periods of time. Unlike our other transformers, this special bell transformer does not have a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) and only has a fail-safe feature.
In the event of improper use and rising temperatures, which can ultimately lead to a fire hazard, the transformer's fail-safe protocol kicks in and short-circuits the device to prevent a possible fire, but this renders the transformer unusable and it must be replaced.
All our transformers fulfil the strictest environmental protection requirements and have been tested and certified in accordance with EN61558.

Our staircase light timer offers advanced electronic control for the lighting in your home. With a stepless timer setting of up to 12 minutes, you can adjust the lighting duration to suit your needs. This switch is suitable for 3- and 4-wire circuits and recognises them automatically, so you don't have to make any complicated changes. You have the option of retrofitting 3- and 4-wire circuits or extending the switching time, whereby the changeover to 3-wire circuits only takes place when replacing devices in existing installations.
